Care Campaign for the Vulnerable is learning of the pressures faced by conscientious led Care Providers striving to offer a caring and safe environment to both service users and staff. Safety monitoring is proving to be a invaluable care assist tool - bringing a more open and transparent culture into care homes as well as saving valuable resources within the care home sector and the NHS
Devastated families are coming to Care Campaign for the Vulnerable saying care homes are now advising they are forced to close their doors at Christmas due to more localised and national restrictions being put in place by the Government. Families who were preparing to be reunited in time for the holidays say they will now not be spending the festive period with elderly relatives who live in care homes. Care home management say they are following ''Government guidelines''.
''This is such a setback. This means for many of our loved ones it could be their last Christmas and with tighter restrictions, we have little chance now of contact. I am so upset by all of this. I love my Dad with all my heart but he is stuck behind closed doors in a nursing home unable to do anything for himself. No words can describe how broken my heart feels'' Sue D.
''My mum's home hasn't even opened their doors. I have only seen her on a couple of window visits since July and nothing since.'' Christine Taylor.
''It's heartbreaking. I wrote to my MP and I got a reply from his secretary saying she will look in to it. I am not holding my breath.'' L.F.
''We have been told that the care home doesn't have enough staff to facilitate Chirstmas Day visits, We can all go Christmas Eve so that's better than nothing.''C.H.
''I wrote to Boris Johnson and I got back he was thinking of us all. I saw my mum in Feburary , My heart is completey shattered as I thought Christmas Day I could at least wave to her at the window.'' K.B.
Care Campaign for the Vulnerable is supporting families coming to us saying they have waited months to be allowed in to visit loved ones at Christmas.
