 Care Campaign For The Vulnerable

Care Campaign for the Vulnerable is learning of the pressures faced by conscientious led Care Providers striving to offer a caring and safe environment to both service users and staff. Safety monitoring is proving to be a invaluable care assist tool - bringing a more open and transparent culture into care homes as well as saving valuable resources within the care home sector and the NHS

''My husband in hospital is being moved 50 miles away to a nursing home....I will never see him again.''

Peter is now being transferred from hospital fifty miles away to a nursing home - the only home with a bed available that can meet his care needs

Christine contacted CCFTV saying she was distraught she had been informed by the hospital her elderly husband diagnosed with dementia would have to be transferred to a care home over 50 miles away from her as it was the only home that would accept her husband who has complex care needs. Christine told us she was devastated her husband would be so far away that she wouldn't be able to visit or be near enough to make the journey if he were to pass away.

''I am heartbroken my husband is now going to be moved over 50 miles away from me. I know these are very difficult times and it's been explained to me the hospital is struggling to find a suitable nursing home that will accept him because he has ''challenging behaviour'. I see this as him only being confused and I was lucky I spent some time with him over Christmas in hospital. He knew who I was. I am so sad that if he is moved so far from me and because I don't drive, I won' be able to get to him if he should be nearing the end. I know difficult decisions are to be had but he's my husband and this seems so cruel that they are denying us to be near each other. I am in my seventies and Pete is in his eighties, how long do we have left? I am heartbroken.''
