My mother was left to grieve without family to visit her when my father passed away in March. She didn't attend his funeral due to lockdown. She then dramatically lost weigh and stopped eating - she was dying from loneliness. The care home management only granted us 'one visit' which they said should be taken 'at an appropriate time' - when we were eventually told she was end of life we took this opportunity and donned full PPE in the process. None of the staff were tested and yet were allowed to come and go (including a lot of bank staff) all residents were COVID-free, yet my sister and I were denied any further access to our mother, despite us suggesting ways around the issue, all they could quote to us was 'we want to keep staff and residents COVID-free' ...even though the government had specific guidance offered, they chose deliberately to ignore this. We were informed over the phone that she'd passed away. A few days later, when we came to collect her belongings, they presented her clothes in black bin liners. We have asked for her care notes and been informed that they are 'looking into whether this can be shared' - yet we have full LPA. They are now trying to cover their tracks by backdating their postings on end of life care on their website. They are liars in our view and the management had no intention of involving us in my mother's end stage decisions or care ....callous, not caring - AVOID THIS COMPANY - PART OF CARE SOUTH
