Care Campaign for the Vulnerable is learning of the pressures faced by conscientious led Care Providers striving to offer a caring and safe environment to both service users and staff. Safety monitoring is proving to be a invaluable care assist tool - bringing a more open and transparent culture into care homes as well as saving valuable resources within the care home sector and the NHS
Throughout lockdown this home was not helpful at all, my Mum was clearly declining in health mentally and physically but staff just kept telling me she was fine.
I got one video call a week that never lasted more than 5 minutes.
I emailed the owner 5 times in 4 months asking if I could have a window visit just once a week but he always said no.
I knew that the home had the virus and had many deaths but would not give me any information only to do with my mum, I was never told that my mum was being tested for the virus either, I found out on Facebook because a Granddaughter of a resident had put she had passed away from the virus, when I questioned this they still refused to tell me
I know many family’s are still in the dark regarding the home having the virus
So instead of me questioning them all the time instead of dealing with me they gave my mum notice
Thankfully she is in a lovely home now and I’ve had many garden visits but sadly the lack of understanding from the last home has affected my mum she will never be the same again
