Care Campaign for the Vulnerable is learning of the pressures faced by conscientious led Care Providers striving to offer a caring and safe environment to both service users and staff. Safety monitoring is proving to be a invaluable care assist tool - bringing a more open and transparent culture into care homes as well as saving valuable resources within the care home sector and the NHS
My father left this care home twice and was admitted to hospital on both occasions .. The first time he was put behind a locked gate with me the other side and when his behaviour became challenging as he totally didn’t understand after four months of not seeing me why the gate was locked ... two very young careers were struggling with him. He was sectioned the next day and was then but on medication which totally changed the man I knew .. After 9 weeks he returned we had been singing and dancing the day before. He was isolated for 14 days . After just ten days he was admitted to hospital with severe dehydration and accute kidney damage .. I had kept saying he was sleeping a lot and when was he eating and drinking !!! After challenging why he had become so dehydrated they said it was because the ambulance took 4 hours to arrive ! The hospital advised us not to send him back to the care home when he was put on end of life care !! But thankfully pulled through when he heard all our voices after four months of not seeing us . I asked for the care plan and fluid charts
The nurse in charge said they didn’t have a fluid chart as they didn’t think it was necessary
Clearly it was . Very unhappy with the care my father received
"The evidence from Providers who have installed CCTV seems to me to merit careful attention and to be quite persuasive"
