Care Campaign for the Vulnerable is learning of the pressures faced by conscientious led Care Providers striving to offer a caring and safe environment to both service users and staff. Safety monitoring is proving to be a invaluable care assist tool - bringing a more open and transparent culture into care homes as well as saving valuable resources within the care home sector and the NHS
CCFTV NETWORK TEAM MEETING -WELCOMED NOTABLE CARE PROFESSIONALS TO DISCUSS OUR SUPPORT TO FAMILIES AND CARERS DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC.
Our monthly meeting allowed us an opportunity to talk over the many challenges families and care workers are bringing to CCFTV particularly during the last year during the Covid crisis. The pandemic is, without doubt, an unprecedented time for families, elderly residents, care staff/providers and the social care industry.
Our work has escalated during Covid and it's clear from the support we offer families and care workers, it’s been a year that will leave a permanent mark on many people.
We have been privy to some outstanding commitment shown and our care workers have been the heroes that have just got on with the job in hand. CCFTV not only raises issues publicly to the challenges facing families and care workers - long before the pandemic struck, but we are also directly involved in adult safeguard and best interest meetings and seen an increase in families reporting unfair ‘’revenge’ evictions, neglect and a significant increase in unwitnessed injuries sustained by vulnerable elderly predominately living with dementia in care homes.
In every safeguard meeting CCFTV attends, families say they lose trust and we continue to see a crucial role in the use of safety monitoring. Unwitnessed falls often resulting in premature decline, evictions to vulnerable frail residents where it has been advised by commissioning groups, safeguard teams and social workers that a move would not be in the best interest of the resident, families accused of abusive or troublesome behaviour – when no evidence exists to deny or confirm such distressing allegations. Our work during this pandemic has continued to confirm the urgent need for safety monitoring technology in the care of our most vulnerable and their dedicated care staff.
Thank you to all our attendees and the CCFTV team for their amazing commitment to the care of our most vulnerable elderly in care homes.
"The evidence from Providers who have installed CCTV seems to me to merit careful attention and to be quite persuasive"
