Care Campaign for the Vulnerable is learning of the pressures faced by conscientious led Care Providers striving to offer a caring and safe environment to both service users and staff. Safety monitoring is proving to be a invaluable care assist tool - bringing a more open and transparent culture into care homes as well as saving valuable resources within the care home sector and the NHS
Care Campaign for the Vulnerable organised and hosted an Evictions in Care Roundtable on Friday 24th September 2021 held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Beaconsfield Buckinghamshire and joined by notable care industry professionals including Vic Rayner OBE, National Care Forum, CEO Andrew Geach, Shedfield Lodge Care Home in Southampton and Beaconsfield MP Joy Morrissey.
Families CCFTV support were also present to speak on their experiences of eviction when complaints were raised in a loved ones care and offered an emotional insight into when an eviction is served snd the debating effect it can have on an elderly vulnerable person. CCFTV and families we support want to see better tenancy rights in care as well as an independent body to review every eviction served to an elderly person in a care home.
Joy Morrissey MP told attendees “ I support the work CCFTV are doing and more must be done to better protect our most vulnerable in care. I’d like to thank CCFTV for the vital support they offer families and their elderly relatives affected by many issues in care including "revenge" evictions.''
Shedfield Lodge CEO Andrew Geach said ''As a care home provider we have taken elderly from care homes that had been served notice because it was told the resident had ''challenging behaviour''. We must question is the action taken acceptable when elderly that are being evicted are in fact living in dementia specialist care homes in many cases. Therefore should we question the quality of dementia training offered to staff.''
Care Campaign for the Vulnerable would like to thank all our attendees including our families that joined us today and for giving an insight into why we need better protection and rights for our elderly living in care homes
"The evidence from Providers who have installed CCTV seems to me to merit careful attention and to be quite persuasive"
