Care Campaign for the Vulnerable strongly urges care providers to not restrict families from visiting. There is no doubt that restricting visits would once again see a negative impact on the mental, physical and emotional well-being of vulnerable residents living in care homes.
While we recognise the safety of elderly and care staff is paramount, restrictions on visits have previously evidenced vulnerable elderly suffer decline from isolation and loneliness The government needs to put measures in place to ensure care homes allow families to see their loved ones over the festive period. . For many, this Christmas will be their last.
We cannot afford a repeat of the distressing experiences families CCFTV supported, many battling to gain window visits while being denied the right to family life unable to hug loved ones. The Government must take direct action and commit to ensuring our care sector is not forgotten.
