Care Campaign for the Vulnerable is learning of the pressures faced by conscientious led Care Providers striving to offer a caring and safe environment to both service users and staff. Safety monitoring is proving to be a invaluable care assist tool - bringing a more open and transparent culture into care homes as well as saving valuable resources within the care home sector and the NHS
At Care Campaign for the Vulnerable, we've been advocating for transparency and safety in dementia elderly care all the way to Parliament. Our 2018 Government petition garnered thousands of signatures, and since then, we've continued to evolve and amplify our voice. Despite our efforts, the experience of care can be profoundly isolating for families.
As we engage with an ever increasing number of families and witness their inner turmoil, CCFTV empathises with their struggles. Too often, families find themselves grappling with unvoiced concerns and “brushed-off” worries. We recognise that amidst the challenges, there are dedicated carers and providers committed to providing exemplary care. Yet, despite best intentions, we are still seeing elderly individuals with complex dementia being failed and only caught out by hidden camera footage.
The time has come for the government to accept a shared commitment to revolutionise dementia care by supporting providers on the use of choice-based overt independent safety monitoring in dementia care communities.
We must do better to dismantle barriers, to allow open and transparent communication, and above all else see a government prioritise the well-being and safety of vulnerable people who entrust providers with their care.
"The evidence from Providers who have installed CCTV seems to me to merit careful attention and to be quite persuasive"
