Care Campaign for the Vulnerable is learning of the pressures faced by conscientious led Care Providers striving to offer a caring and safe environment to both service users and staff. Safety monitoring is proving to be a invaluable care assist tool - bringing a more open and transparent culture into care homes as well as saving valuable resources within the care home sector and the NHS
CCFTV welcomes the Care Quality Commission's (CQC) recent publication of guidance on the new fundamental standard: Regulation 9A - Visiting and accompanying in care homes, hospitals, and hospices.
This groundbreaking regulation solidifies the rights of individuals to receive visitors and to be accompanied to appointments, highlighting the importance of maintaining relationships and ensuring personal support within care settings. It is our firm belief that the emotional wellbeing of those in care is just as critical as their physical health.
The ability to receive visits and have accompaniment not only bolsters the spirits of those in care but also provides essential comfort and connection to loved ones.
By implementing these rights into a fundamental standard, the CQC has taken a significant step towards a more compassionate and person-centered approach to care. We urge all providers to thoroughly review and implement the necessary protocols to align with Regulation 9A. Compliance is not only a regulatory requirement to avoid enforcement action by the CQC, but it is also a moral imperative to honour the dignity and rights of those in care.
As CCFTV continues to champion the vulnerable and their families, we pledge our support to providers in understanding and fulfilling these critical responsibilities. Together, we can ensure that this new regulation is more than just a directive—it becomes the cornerstone of care that celebrates the invaluable role of family, friends, and carers in the lives of those we have the privilege to serve.
This response aligns with CCFTV's advocacy for the vulnerable, emphasising the emotional aspects of care and the importance of relationships in the healing and care process. Ref:- Care Home Professional https://www.carehomeprofessional.com/guest-column-sector-welcomes-new-care-home-visiting-rule/
