CCFTV Director Jayne Connery was invited to join an esteemed panel at The Business Magazine Leadership Roundtable, hosted by the editor, Nicky Godding. This event was an important discussion on the care provision and challenges faced by the care sector. The Roundtable was held on July 9th at Herrington Carmichael, Brennan House, Farnborough Aerospace Centre Business Park.

The focus of the roundtable was the pressing challenges and emerging opportunities within the care sector in the South East, a region facing significant societal and economic impacts due to its growing elderly population. The discussion aims to provide a comprehensive overview of these challenges, particularly the strain on healthcare service provision as the demand for elderly care continues to rise.

Key topics included:
Challenges in the Care Sector: An examination of the difficulties faced by the South East in accommodating the needs of its aging population.
Economic Response and Investment Opportunities: Identifying how various sectors of the South East economy can adapt and thrive amidst these challenges, and pinpointing potential areas for investment within the care sector.
Role of Technology: Exploring how technological advancements can address future care needs, while also tackling the ethical and privacy concerns that accompany the integration of technology in care settings.
Regulation and Policy: Discussing potential regulatory measures that upcoming administrations could implement to support key economic sectors in navigating the challenges posed by the care sector.
Staffing and Skills Shortage: Addressing the critical issue of staffing shortages and the need for skilled professionals in the care industry.

The roundtable had a diverse group of stakeholders, including care home developers, academics, care home owners, healthcare technology companies, training providers, recruitment company CEO's , and facilities management companies. The diverse representation ensured a holistic approach to tackling the multifaceted issues within the care sector.

The gathering brought insightful discussions and offered a valuable opportunity for networking and collaboration among key players in the care sector.
