Care Campaign for the Vulnerable is learning of the pressures faced by conscientious led Care Providers striving to offer a caring and safe environment to both service users and staff. Safety monitoring is proving to be a invaluable care assist tool - bringing a more open and transparent culture into care homes as well as saving valuable resources within the care home sector and the NHS
Care Campaign for the Vulnerable Founder Jayne Connery paid a very special visit to Ellen White after her plight was highlighted on our Social media Campaign last November at the request of her family.
Nana White suffered catastrophic injuries whilst in care assisted accommodation. Her injuries caused outrage from our supporters after the post was viewed on our social media forum over 1.3 million times. Nana White was hospitalised and then moved to a nursing home where she is settled and recovering well. The family requested Jayne accompany them to the arranged meeting with Social Service's, Safeguard team, CQC representative and the Home Care Provider Senior Management. Many issues were raised regarding Nana Whites care, with promises of immediate changes by the Care Provider to ensure the safety of other residents.
Nana White with her granddaughter
Jayne Connery said after the meeting ‘Nana White' and her family deserve answers to how and why these injuries happened - accidental or not. Transparency in care is so important when questions regarding Mrs Whites injuries could not be explained. I had the absolute privilege today meeting Nana White, after attending a meeting as the families advocate along with her Granddaughter, Daughter and various agencies.
Concerns were raised about the injuries received in her home with assisted care. Nana White’s plight touched us deeply at Care Campaign for the Vulnerable after her family were forced to publicise her horrific injuries, gaining over 1.3 million views and supporters showing their horror from the injuries she sustained last November. We are delighted to report Nana White is now settled and recovering well in a Nursing home and I was thrilled to get the chance to meet her. This very unfortunate case shows every family has the right to know the facts when faced with horrific events concerning a loved ones care and raises the importance of transparency to both resident and carer and is crucial in gaining answers should injuries happen when in care.
"The evidence from Providers who have installed CCTV seems to me to merit careful attention and to be quite persuasive"
