Care Campaign for the Vulnerable throws support behind Action on Elder Abuse Campaign, urging the Government to get tough on sentencing those who commit abuse against our elders in care homes - giving them the same justice as those who are victims of abuse outside care home walls. CCFTV supports this and rallying support for such measures to now happen.

''It is a long time coming. For years now CCFTV has witnessed families distraught and disillusioned with the care system. In our work of both safety monitoring in dementia care homes and working with families affected by loved ones suffering abuse or serious failings in care , we see the negative side of the sector and there is one. Of course we should champion the great care homes and dedicated care staff but one case of abuse is one case too many.''

At Care Campaign for the Vulnerable we are contacted by families telling us how neglect plays a big part in their loved ones further demise in health. Verbal abuse is also picked up against our elderly - families are sending us in audio recordings of carers speaking to loved ones who can not complain or retaliate back in the most horrific way. It’s really got to stop and the only way is obviously stricter recruitment levels but also a punishment that will deter such abhorrent behaviour. It really is time to act.
